How does it run? If it is running rich or lean then the carburetor could be the culprit. If it is original from 1986 I would bet it needs a rebuild.
The 1989 Chevy Caprice 305 V8 does not have a carburetor. It is equipped with Throttle Body Fuel Injection which may look like a carburetor but is not.
no comes stock with a 305
yes I can.
Yes, it will definitely fit.
The base 305 had a 4bbl carburetor
You can change your 1986 305 cubic inch pickup engine from a carburetor to fuel injection. The problem with doing so is the cost. It might cost more to do the change than it would to purchase an engine.
Yes it will, as long as you are swaping from a 305 to a 305.
The carburetor needs rebuilding including a new float, needle and seat, assuming it has a carburetor.
Are you certain you have a carburetor? 74% of the Caprices that year used TBI or throttle body injection. Check the VIN code, 8th digit for a "E", the most common engine, a 305. As long as it is not a "Y", or 307, you have injection.
carb, cam, intake, headers, heads, msd igntion, or a 350
The 305 was standard in an 89 Caprice Classic, so the answer is obviously yes.
