Never heard of a grinding timing chain. Maybe your starter is dragging. Get your starter rebuilt. Check your battery voltage and alternator amp output. Check all connections at battery starter and solenoid.

Plug your car in when its cold!

That problem does exist in older Nissan Pick-Ups. Some Used Car books mention this as an annoying but otherwise not troublesome rattle of a chain that has been manufactured too large for years. So the grinding noise can only be fixed with a revised model of timing chains for a lot of $$. Apparently, the noise stems from the movement of the chain itself and not its banging against any housing. After all, it sits in oil, so I just replace the oil more frequently.

Does the Nissan Sentra 2004 have a timing chain or a timing belt?

For longer life with less maintenance, the Sentra engine uses a timing chain instead of a cheaper, but quieter, timing belt. You don't notice the extra noise generated by the timing chain. Why pulsar timing chain noise?

Pulsar timing chain noise refers to the irregularities in the timing mechanism of a pulsar, often caused by variations in the mechanical components of the timing chain system. This noise can arise from factors like wear and tear, misalignment, or insufficient lubrication, leading to fluctuations in the pulsar's timing accuracy. Such noise can affect the precision of measurements in astrophysical observations, making it crucial for scientists to account for these discrepancies in their data analysis. Understanding and mitigating this noise is essential for improving the reliability of pulsar-based timing systems.

Timing chain noise?

Timing chain noise is most commonly coming from a loose chain. The tensioner could be loose or broken or the chain could be stretched. If the chain slips or breaks before you fix it, then not only will the engine stop running but you could cause serious damage.
