If you are very careful you can use a cutting torch with a small tip.
center support bearing for the driveshaft!
Mark driveshaft and yoke to install in same location to maintain factory balance Remove 2 small "U" bolts from rear end yoke Pry driveshaft out of yoke Slide off spline from transmission not all drive shafts are one piece. How you remove the center support bearing(carrier bearing) from the forward drive shaft?
you can't replace it you have to buy whole new driveshaft assy. about 650.00 from dealer. or go to junkyard,or driveshaft shop to see if they can cut off yoke replace bearing and re-weld which is what i did. 2004 is the only year for this.
Many carrier bearing assemblies must be pressed off and on the shaft. Sometimes it's best to take the entire driveshaft off the vehicle and have a driveline specialist shop replace all of the u-joints and the carrier bearing at the same time. For that matter, they don't usually charge much to remove and replace the driveshaft so it's often not worth the trouble to do it yourself.
its the center carrier bearing in the 2 peice driveshaft...have it replaced or go to a 1 peice driveshaft
If you have a 2 piece driveshaft it could be the center carrier bearing.
Bad u-joints. Bent driveshaft, Weight that has come off of driveshaft. A bad dent in the driveshaft.
Bad center bearing? Bad universal joint? Factory installed balancing weight fell off? Driveshaft removed and not installed in proper factory location (driveshaft is balanced at factory prior to delivery)
In a nutshell: Unbolt 4 nuts/bolts from rear of driveshaft from rear differential. Pull driveshaft out of transfercase. Unbolt driveshaft's carrier bearing from chassis. Unbolt and pull transfer case off of transmission. I'm in the process of doing an AWD swap into my Spyder now ! :) IHTH Brian
Remove the driveshaft From the truck. Mark the driveshaft on both sides so that when you put it back together it will still be balanced. Slide the 2 shafts apart and then take a hammer and a punch and lightly drive the bearing off the shaft. install the new on and slide the shafts back together. reinstall and walla your are done.
the same way you would replace any hub assembly, take the wheel off, take off any bolts that connect the hub to the driveshaft and then replace it
