To determine the correct placement of the plug wires on the distributor cap for a 1973 Charger SE with a 318 engine, first identify the firing order, which is typically 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 for this engine. Locate the number one cylinder, usually found at the front of the engine on the driver's side, and align the distributor cap's terminal that corresponds to it. Following the firing order, connect the wires clockwise around the cap in the correct sequence. Consulting a repair manual or an online resource specific to your vehicle can also provide valuable guidance.
Need to know what engine you have.
Usually the length of the oem wires from the distributor can give you a general idea. Hope this helps
Need to know what year 4.3L you have to answer that.
Replace one at a time.
mabey bad plug wires or plugs....or rotor in the distributor...but im 16 what do i know
An HEI distributor has the coil mounted in the distributor....not separately. Simple way, count the wires coming out of the cap. 8....you have HEI. 9 you have a point set up.
The one on the right closest to the front of the vehicle.
the 69 was iconic, don't know why the 73 has any popularity.
Unplug the wires going into the distributor cap, be sure you know which wire goes to which terminal or your car will not start if they are wrong. Remove the 3 bolts that hold the plastic cap to the metal distributor. Put the new cap back on, replace the bolts, and plug the wires into the appropriate terminal.
Is the rotor bug turning when the distributor cap is off when you turn it over?, if not the gear on the bottom of the distributor could have come off or your timing chain could be broke.
Look at the spark plugs-- if one has no wire at the top, that is the problem- there should be a wire from each spark plug to the distributor cap.
Depends on the make/model/year vehicle.. depends on who set the distributor. easier again shortest lead to nearest plug ....second shortest to second plug and so on
