Should be self-adjusting unless tensioner is bad
get a tensionier bar from the auto store. Place it the hole or around the nut moves the tensioner, either up or down.
there's only 1 and it located below the alternator. use a 3/4 breaker bar to loosen
To replace the power steering belt on a 1991 Mercury Capri, first, ensure the vehicle is turned off and safely supported. Locate the power steering pump and identify the tensioner mechanism. Loosen the tensioner bolt and remove the old belt from the pulleys. Finally, install the new belt, ensuring it's properly seated on all pulleys, then adjust the tension before tightening the tensioner bolt.
The tension bar is the supporting bar that you can loosen to slide the alternator down and remove the belt. Tension on the belt should be 1/4-1/2 inch when pushed on the longest straight run. (Between pulleys)
To perform a garage door opener belt replacement, first unplug the opener and remove the cover. Loosen the tension on the belt and remove it from the pulleys. Install the new belt by threading it through the pulleys and adjusting the tension. Finally, replace the cover and plug the opener back in.
Put an 18mm wrench on the lower tensioner belt and rotate CCW to loosen the tension. Remove the belt from around the alternator pulley, and slowly release the tensioner. Unwrap the belt from all the pulleys and install the new belt following the belt diagram located near the radiator support. ALWAYS make sure the grooved side of the belt is contacting the grooved pulleys, and the smooth side of the belt is contacting the smooth pulleys (Idler pulleys). Groove to Groove -- Smooth to Smooth
Loosen bolt in tension pulley, then loosen tension bolt. Replace belt. Tighten tension bolt. Last, tighten bolt through pulley.
put it on the tension srewand push back towards muffler
I don't know about a 92, but my 90 GM GS has no tensioner. Instead the alternator functions as the tensioner. Loosen the top bolt and slide it to the left.
To adjust belt tension for optimal performance, first locate the tension adjustment mechanism on the belt system. Use the appropriate tools to loosen or tighten the tension according to the manufacturer's specifications. Check the tension by pressing down on the belt at the midpoint between pulleys - it should deflect slightly. Re-adjust as needed until the proper tension is achieved for optimal performance.
You will locate the adjusting bolt at the base of the wiper arm, then you will loosen the bolts. Lastly, \take a wrench to re tighten those bolts.
To loosen the tension on a serpentine belt on a 2005 Grand Caravan 3.8L, turn the nut of the belt tension pulley to loosen it. Adjust the belt, then tighten the tension pulley by turning the nut in the opposite direction.
Loosen lock nut, turn tension bolt.
