I'm sure your talking about a John Deere. Draw a picture of the position of the pulleys. Have someone help you, using a piece of 2x4 lumber force the spring loaded tension pulley toward the front of the deck and hold it this will give you slack. Then you can remove the belt off the pulleys on the deck. When replacing the belt put it over each pulley on the deck and force the tension pulley foward. Then start the belt in the groove on the drive pulley and using a pipe wrench with the jaws on the inside and outside of the pulley, while holding the belt in place rotate the pulley the belt will drop into the groove
1. release the tension rod on the left side of the deck and swing it outward 2.on front left axle pull lever out that keeps tension on the u shaped draft bar that hooks into the front of deck and swing it down towards you 3. pull out spring loaded j hooks on each side of rear deck 4. once hooks are released deck will come down, then slide deck out of the discharge side of mower, turning whells to make it easier
Remove the mower deck. Block the blade from turning by using a piece of wood wedged between the blade and the mower deck. Loosen the nut on the top of the pulley (May require a cheater bar). Remove the pulley. If it doesn't come off easily, use a 3 armed pully remover. Once the pulley is removed, loosen the four self-tapping bolts that hold the spindle to the bottom of the deck and the spindle will fall loose. Remove the blade. Install the new spindle from below using NEW self-tapping bolts to bolt the new spindle to the deck. Replace the blade, install pulley, block blade from turning then tighten the top nut.
The front snowblower attachment on the GT225 is powered by the engine through a belt that extends to the pulley on the bottom of the engine. ( it is the same pulley that drives the mower deck.) The mower deck must be removed. Bret
Standing behind the mower looking down, the belt comes off the blade, out of the deck, to the left of the first pulley(back of belt is against the pulley), now right between the next pulley and around the pulley on the transmission. You may have to remove, or at least raise the second pulley to get the belt under the guard. Have a good one. Geo

Remove the deck. First by pulling the pins that attach the lift brackets, and then remove the rear spring, and the 2 belt guides under the engine for the belt that drives the deck (1/4" socket). After the deck is out, release the spring that applies tention on the right idler pulley (you'll have to remove the 2 side pulley covers).
