Need to know what side you are working on. The driver side just snaps in. It has a lock ring on the end of the axel shaft. If you took the passanger side axel out of the housing, Then a big flat shim has fallen out on you and down in the housing. You will have to take the axel housing tube loose from the center Differential. Theres 4-5 bolts beside the 4x4 Actuator That needs removed to take apart. That will let the housing that the axel goes in come off, I forgot theres 2 bolts that hold the housing to the frame, Remove those too. Then find washer and put heavy grease on it and put it back in place, It goes over the end of the axel shaft. Good luck
Differential lock is a driver controlled locking mechanism which locks the speed differentiation of axle halfshafts in differential mechanisms. After locking, both wheels rotate in same speed. But the interaxle differential(IAD) lockstopsthe speed differentiation of two axles in Tandem axle vehicles by locking the inter axle differential(third differential),after locking IAD both pinions rotate in same speed.
You will have to remove the horn pad and the steering wheel which requires a special puller. Then you need a compressor for depressing the wheel lock. Remove the turn signal switch and there will be a slot to insert a small blade screw driver. Depress the pin and pull the lock cylinder out. Insert the new one and you will feel it lock in place.

Remove differential cover. -In the differential housing there is an 8mm lock bolt that holds the pinion shaft in place remove that. -Remove the pinion shaft. -Remove the C-lock from the button end of the axle shaft. For that you will have to push in on the axle shaft. It will move freely with the pinion shaft out. The pinion shaft holds the two axle shafts apart. -With the C-lock out you can pull the axle shaft out. - You will need an axle bearing puller to remove the bearing. Pull the bearing and the oil seal out. -Clean everything nice and neat with brake parts cleaner. Wipe with clean towel. -Install new bearing and oil seal. You will need a bearing and race setter. (It helps to freeze the bearing before installation.) -Install the clean axle shaft. -Install C-lock. -Install pinion shaft. -Install pinion shaft lock bolt. Use blue thread locker paste so it doesn't come loose from the vibration. -Remove the remaining of the gasket from the differential and pan. Use a razor blade don't scratch it. -Install gasket and differential cover. -Add the differential oil. -Install brake rotors or drums, tires. If you have any doubts take it to a shop.
