To Remove: 1. Remove or disconnect the following: Transmission Quick disconnect from the slave cylinder 2. Install a clutch alignment tool. 3. Mark the flywheel and a clutch pressure plate lug for the installation alignment if reusing the pressure plate. 4. Remove or disconnect the following: Pressure plate bolts and the washers 5. Secure the clutch pressure plate and the clutch driven plate to the flywheel. 5. Remove the clutch alignment tool. To install: 1. Install or connect the following: Bolts and the washers securing the clutch pressure plate and the clutch driven plate to the flywheel Clutch alignment tool 2. Install the pressure plate. Align the marks made during removal if reusing the pressure plate. Tighten the clutch pressure plate mounting bolts. Torque to: 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm) on the NV3500 or 33 ft. lbs. (44 Nm) on the NV1500 3. Remove the clutch alignment tool. 4. Install or connect the following: Manual Transmission, Quick disconnect to the concentric slave cylinder 5. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system if necessary. 6. Test drive the vehicle to confirm the repairs.
Support the back of the engine and remove transmission. Remove clutch and pressure plate. Flywheel is held on with 6 bolts. Install in reverse order. This is a good time to inspect the condition of clutch, pressure plate, pilot bushing and throwout bearing.
Remove either the engine or transmission, remove the pressure plate from the existing flywheel and examine both the pressure plate and clutch plate, unbolt the flywheel from the crankshaft and remove it. If there are many miles on the clutch, don't even TRY to reuse it. Examine/replace the glan nut/pilot bushing as necessary and lubricate according to specifications. Bolt the NEW flywheel onto the crankshaft. Using a pilot shaft, install the clutch plate/pressure plate assembly. Make sure the shaft can be removed easily and that the clutch plate is centered exactly on the pilot shaft. Install the engine or transmission. If you haven't done one before, good luck.
Remove the driveshaft, jack up the transmission, remove the clutch slave cylinder, detach the bell housing bolts, move the transmission back, remove the shift fork, clutch plate, pressure plate, flywheel and throwout bearing, use alignment tool that came with new clutch to install new pressure plate, clutch disk and throwout bearing.
The clutch slave cylinder on all 1979-93 900s and most 99s is easy to access but difficult to remove. Begin by removing the plastic cover over the clutch assembly at the front of the car (rear of the engine).1) Compress the clutch pressure plate by stepping on the clutch pedal and holding it in place. If the clutch hydraulic system is leaking, you will need a Saab special tool to compress the pressure plate.2) Install the pressure plate ring special tool, or use a similar large gauge wire to keep the pressure plate compressed for disassembly.3) Remove the shaft that goes from the primary gears to the center of the flywheel. This is done at the front of the transmission by removing the round plate, then the threaded plastic spinner. Insert a correct sized bolt (8mm?) into the end of the shaft to aid removal.4) Remove the bolts holding the pressure plate to the flywheel, and the three bolts that hold the clutch slave assembly to the transmission.5) Remove the pressure plate, clutch disk and slave cylinder together.6) It will be necessary to remove the pressure plate special tool with a hydraulic press, and to install that ring into the new pressure plate for reassembly.
Easiest thing for me is to remove the transmission first. Then you can get to the pressure plate and the clutch. Its a simple matter of a few bolts coming off. Remove the plate and then install a new clutch and pressure plate. I would highly suggest you replace the alignment bearing and the throw out bearing at the same time. An alignment tool comes with most new kits for the plate. Us this to line up the splines into the clutch plate and bearing.
In general terms follow these steps; 1) remove drive shaft/s between gearbox and final drive assy 2) Remove gearbox and bellhousing from engine. 3) Remove pressure plate from flywheel, friction plate will also come free. 4) Replace pressure plate, friction plate, spigot brg, throw out bearing. 5) Align friction plate with spigot bearing with dummy input shaft. 6) Replace gearbox and drive shaft/s

remove transmission, remove torque converter (auto), or clutch and pressure plate (manual) remove flywheel flywheel and pressure plate must be Torqued to factory specs
The transmission must be separated from the engine, related brackets and lines have to be removed. Loosen the bolts around the pressure plate, the clutch disc will loosen at that time. Be careful as you remove the pressure plate, the disc will fall freely. Use a clutch alignment tool to align the new clutch disc, tighten the pressure plate bolts to specs and re-install the transmission.
1. Buy a New clutch and pressure plate 2. Remove gearbox 3. remove old clutch and pressure plate 4. fit new clutch and pressure plate 5. fit gearbox 6. Drive
Remove the transmission. Remove the clutch plate and springs. Remove the clutch. Reverse the process to install the new clutch.
