If it's the same conformation in the engine compartment as the 1998, the battery is left-front-corner under the cross-mount and the main power point box. To remove the battery, you first need to remove the gray-black plastic cover over the windshield wiper/firewall top area. That done, you remove the bolts that hold down the left cross-brace, and you remove the brace from the engine compartment. With the brace out of the way, and with the power box moved to the side, you have access to the battery and its clamping bolts. (There's a plastic clamping wedge down at the base of the battery that you'll want to remember to reinstall). Sounds complex; actually pretty simple.

To jump-start a 2000 Chevy Venture, first ensure both vehicles are turned off. Connect the positive (+) jumper cable to the positive terminal of the dead battery, then attach the other end to the positive terminal of the working battery. Next, connect the negative (-) jumper cable to the negative terminal of the working battery, and the other end to an unpainted metal surface or ground on the dead vehicle. Start the working vehicle, let it run for a few minutes, then try starting the Chevy Venture.
The Starter, Is Bad.
