well if you have a coupe just raise the hatch and under the breaklight there will be two torx bolts remove them and the light will come off the glass be careful not to scratch your window or paint as you replace the bulbs,also make sure you are sitting down when you price the bulb,i paid about 7.00 apiece for mine at oriellys.be careful about how you insert the bulbs as they dont have ends like the 194 bulb does all they have are the 2 contact wires sticking out the back also use a good bulb grease when you reinstall and be carefull about taking your old bulbs out try not to break the contact wires,good luck it's not that hard just take your time and you'll do ok

On my 1988 Conv the third brake light comes out through the license plate opening.The service manual suggests removing both the gas filler door and rubber boot along with the license.

You can't. The C5 third brake light is an LED unit. If the unit has went out the entire unit needs to be replaced. There are two bolts that hold the unit in that are accessed by removing the rear plate holder.
Remove the two screws holding the third brake light lens on then remove the lens, it may be stuck but it will pop off. Replace the two bulbs in there by pulling them straight out.
