First you will need to identify where the resovoir is situated in engine bay. Next you need to find the fluid pipes atatched, you then have to clamp the hoses before you remove the clips that fix them to the resovoir. You can now remove the resovoir from the engine bay. You are n ow able to drain any fluid into a container for disposel.
It is advisable to wear latex gloves safely. Now you need to flush and clean the resorvoir to remove any contaminates. At this stage you need to drain the rest of the fluid for safe dispsal. Once all old fluid has drained you can start to replace by reverse operation.
Now you should have a clean system ready for new Power Steering fluid. You now need to refill system to the correct level mark on the cap dipstick. This fluid change will always draw in unwanted air into the system which we do not want. The final job is to bleed the system to remove the air and bubbles which if left will cause unsafe operation of the power steering.
You will need to refer to your cars maintenance manual or check with dealer
because some systems have a bleed screw that you loosen while moving the steering wheel left to right a few times to clear. Like brake system bleeding
you are checking for the bubbles to cease.
You will now need to test drive your car so I advise you to drive slowly and safely preferably off the highway to satisfy your self that steering is ok.
If you have any doubts get a mechanic to double check your work.
Bad steering could cause an accident so play safe.
