Rear brakes do not need to be changed as often as front brakes so often the drum is rusted on. If you can spin the drum by hand it will be un-likely that you would need to back off the shoes. This can be done by spinning the automatic adjuster through the back plate if you want to try that. The drum itself has nothing holding it onto the spindle except the wheel and lugnuts and will often be able to be taken off by lightly tapping alternating sides of the drum. If this does not work penetrating oil in the center and heat applied to the center of the spindle will help. Also tapping on the center of the hub with a hammer may break it free as well. Some can be tough. Good luck.
To remove the drum on a 94 Dodge Caravan, first you have to move the ajuster downward then remove the spindle cover, the cotter pin, the bolt and the bearing in order to remove the drum
remove wheels, release emergency brake and drums will come off.
B-F-H works everytime
The 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan typically comes equipped with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. When preparing to take the brakes to a mechanic, ensure you specify whether you need brake pads for the front or brake shoes for the rear, as well as any additional components like rotors or drums if they require replacement. It's also a good idea to check the specific trim level of your vehicle, as there may be slight variations.
New brake drums are broken in the first time you go for a drive usually.
