Brake Shift Interlock Fuse

1995-1998

  • #7 - Brake shift interlock
  • #21 - Shift-lock actuator(?)

1999-2003 - #11

NEUTRAL SAFTEY SWITCH OR BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH(located behind the brake pedal) tells shifter that you have the brake on to come out of park.

it is the stop light switch located on the break pedal arm you can get it at the parts store for around 15-30 dollars and you should need minimal tools if any to replace it http://www.hometeammotorsports.org/

This is most likely to be caused by a problem with the brake switch mounted to the brake pedal.

Easy thing to check and replace - easy in that it's accessible and only 1 or 2 small mounting bolts.

Check to see if your brake lights are working,if you have no current for brake lights you will have no current to shifter release solenoid.Could be just a blown fuse,if that's not it there could be a problem with wiring or the release solenoid itself.

Answer

Start by checking your brake lights to see if they work. If they don't work, call the dealer and see if your vehicle has a recall for the brake light switch showing up on their OASIS( Ford term for Online Automotive Service Information System). If there is a recall, guess what? You get a free tow and fix at your friendly local Ford dealer! Whether or not there is a recall, it doe's sound like you need a brake light switch and connector pigtail replacement.

Answer

Make sure brake lights are working--if fuse blown or bad switch interock will not release

Answer

First, make sure you're pressing the brake firmly when you try to push the shift button. If that's not working, check the brake pedal switch and the relay under the shift assembly.

First check to see if you have brake lights, if no brake lights you have a bad shift interlock switch,it is a small black box located behind your brake pedal. It's about $45.00 from the dealership. I keep a spare in my van.

A fuse can cause car to be stuck in park. try this.
turn ignition switch on but do not start engine. then put transmission in neutral. then start engine. now try putting in gear. if this works, check your fuses.sometimes after doing this the car can be put in park and will work.doing this will sometimes just reset the switch

Gearshift stuck in park?

It could be mechanical or it could be electrical. Sometimes if you park on a steep incline or park hard up on a curb, the shift will be difficult to come out of park but it should with a little extra pull on the lever. Also, check the fuses. many vehicles today must have the brake pedal applied to release the shift lever from park. If the fuse is blown that protects that circuit, the shift lever will not move.

How do you get mercedez s430 out of park gear?

Stuck in park huh? Well the only real way is to change the faulty shift module, which is the shifter itself. There is a way to manually release the shift lever but it requires drilling slightly. These do not have a shift lock release, because the S class does not have a steering lock, so they lock the shifter instead.

Why is your Chevy s10 stuck in park?

You need to determine if the problem is the transmission or the shift linkage/cable assembly. Disconnect the linkage at the transmission and see if the shift still is stuck or not. Often I have seen the cable at fault. Be sure to check the fuses to. I,ll answer my own ?. I disconnected The shift cable at the Xmission and with a 3/4 end wrench on Xmission shift lever I coud move out of park and to each gear. At times movement was free and easy but then lever seemed to stick and require a great deal of effort. I havent ruled out the park- neutral solenoid. I will remove it as soon as I can identify it. Is it the part with the small elect. plug near the shift lever? Leroyr

Key stuck in ignition?

This can be attributed to a couple of things. In order to remove the key you can remove the plastic piece under the ignition switch to expose a key release button. OR you can drill out the small circle in the area below the ingnition switch to access the key release button. The stuck key may be a faulty ignition switch or a bent shift lever. This causes the lever to not make the release solenoid contact. If you slammed it into park you make have bent the contact point on the control arm.Faulty ignition switches are a common failure.

How much to fix a ford windstar that is stuck in park?

It's best to have a mechanic diagnose the issue for an accurate estimate.

How do you release stuck bonnet latch and lever on citroen saxo?

To release a stuck bonnet latch on a Citroën Saxo, first, check if the release lever inside the vehicle is fully engaged. If it's stuck, try pulling the lever multiple times or pushing it gently while simultaneously pulling. If that doesn't work, you can access the latch mechanism through the grille by using a flathead screwdriver to carefully push the latch mechanism to the side, allowing the bonnet to open. If these methods fail, it may be necessary to consult a mechanic for further assistance.
