Like many motors built over the past decade, the 2.7 liter V-6 engine used by Kia and Hyundai is an interference motor. If the cam timing belt breaks, the valves will hit the pistons, usually causing significant damage to valves, pistons, and sometimes even connecting rods and heads. Cam belt replacement is recommended at 60,000 miles.
This Van is has a non interferance motor and most likely has a timing chain (Thank God)
You can look that up in a car repair manual Chilton to see if it is an interference or non-interference motor.
No it is not an interference engine.
Yes.
the 2.4 l motor is an interference motor
No
Yep non interference. I know cause I am majic and I just know my stuff
No - it is not an interference engine.
This is from the Hane's repair manual and it is simply: 1-2-3-4-5-6 Easy to remember, eh? No it is not an interferance motor. I'm positive of that. From what I have noticed interferance engines are a trend among the newer import engines.
If you have to ask them don't even try it. They are a difficult task at the best of times and if you don't set the timing marks correctly you will be buying a new motor. It's whats called an interferance engine
no after 1998 they are but the 1993-1997 Chrysler 3.5l engines are not
Yes, Interferance motor.
