The easiest way to find out about any recalls on your vehicle is to contact your dealer. I have personally checked with GMC and there are NO RECALLS on Envoy Instrument Panels.
While there might not be a recall on these yet, there needs to be! Everyone I know that owns a 2004 envoy has problems with the cluster. All this money the Government just gave them from my taxes and they try to ignore this MAJOR issue? And they wonder why people don't buy American anymore? sad...
Oct 8, 2010. I just helped a friend with this problem. It seems it's such a common problem that GM increased the warranty on the cluster to 7 years/70,000 miles. Great, you say? Well, read on!
First GM wanted the vehicle diagnosed by a GM dealer. Once this was done, we were to call GM back and tell them the who the dealership was and that GM would contact the dealership.
We set up an appointment and the dealer determined that the instrument cluster was inoperable (what a stretch). The cluster (Houston, TX) would cost $208.75, programming and labor would cost $295.00 and, of course, tax. We then contacted GM and told them who the dealer was.
GM got back to us and said that it wasn't covered in this case. Reasons?
1) Age/Mileage of the vehicle didn't meet requirements - Delivery date was 01/01/04, mileage was 51,810. What was wrong with this?
2) History of the vehicle - This vehicle was a demonstrator from the dealer, so who knows if that's what they meant.
3) Special coverage parameters were not met - never were told what these parameters were, so, once again, who knows.
Final result? Not covered.
So, moral of the story is: give it a try, but don't hold your breath. It seems that GM would rather take the time and think up excuses not to fix a vehicle than to actually replace the cluster with an obvious design/manufacturing flaw.
Good luck!
is their recall 04 tahoe instrument panel cluster
could be a bad instrument cluster panel, they had a recall on the instrument cluster panel. I had my speedometer stop working and was given a price to fix it and blew it off. Then the recall came and I got a new instrument cluster and that fixed the problem which they knew they had.
We have full instruction on cluster removal and how to replace the stepper motors for the gauges. Use the search button "how to replace your stepper motors" www.trailvoy.com

In a 1995 Volkswagen Golf, the instrument panel bulb is typically located behind the instrument cluster. To access it, you need to remove the instrument cluster by unscrewing the retaining screws and carefully releasing the clips. Once the cluster is out, you can replace the burnt-out bulb from the back of the panel. Make sure to handle the cluster gently and disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical issues.
