Could be a bad strut or shock No I have disconnected both rear shocks and knocking noise is still there whilst driving. Seems to be coming from rear. When stationary I can bounce rear of car up and down and hear noise with handbrake on but not with handbrake off. Any ideas?
The guy in the trunk.
The noise that you are experiencing is probably the clutches in the differential housing. A simple cure would be an additive that can be purchased at an auto parts store.
If the noise is coming from the rear then the bushing is broken.
You probably need your bearings repacked
Can be a number of things, the first thing to check would be the Subframe Bushes
I found my noise wasn't something loose. It was the rear strut was bad. Was more of a load squeak that sounded like something knocking.
The knocking that you are describing reminds me of a stuck universal joint. A bent axle usually wears tires out very fast more than making noise.
rear a/c blend door actuator bad [broken plastic gear]
Noise coming from engine in Oldsmobile Cutlass could be as a result of an oil leak in the rear of your engine. This makes the gears to wear off leading to severe knocking noise.
A rear knocking noise in a Mercedes-Benz CLK 270 CDI could be indicative of several issues, such as worn suspension components, damaged bushings, or problems with the rear differential. It could also stem from loose exhaust components or issues with the rear axle. It's advisable to have a qualified mechanic inspect the vehicle to accurately diagnose and resolve the source of the noise. Ignoring the problem could lead to more significant damage and costly repairs.
I would check the suspension bushings, if one of them is worn it would cause a knocking noise.
