Could be a bad strut or shock No I have disconnected both rear shocks and knocking noise is still there whilst driving. Seems to be coming from rear. When stationary I can bounce rear of car up and down and hear noise with handbrake on but not with handbrake off. Any ideas?
Depends on where the noise is originating from, a suspension component, engine (top or bottom?), steering knocking when turning, going over bumps, etc. You need to provide more details before I can point you in the right direction.
Sounds like the rubbers are going in your shock absorbers.
Little rubber parts that help to cushion a car's suspension system, if they wear out you can hear a knocking noise when going over bumps.
I would check the suspension bushings, if one of them is worn it would cause a knocking noise.
A knocking noise in a 2004 Subaru Forester when going over bumps could be caused by several issues. Common culprits include worn or damaged suspension components such as struts, shocks, or bushings, which can lead to poor damping and excessive movement. Additionally, loose or damaged sway bar links or control arms can also produce knocking sounds. It's advisable to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic to accurately diagnose and address the issue.
Yes, just about any worn suspension bushing or other wearable part can cause that type of noise.
umm it more than likely is your supsension, shocks or possibly even your tires itself GOODLUCK!
i have the same problem what this could be
Bad strut or strut mount? Check for loose undercarriage components
The sway bar end links could be damaged on a vehicle that is making that noise. Also, check the dust shields on the front brake assembly.Ê
Loose, worn, broken tie rods, sway bar links, struts, ball joints,.......
Most likely you need a new strut
