Compress the shock spring using a spring compressor. Remove the bolt on top of the shock plate. Remove the bolt on the bottom of the shock. Reverse the process to install the new front shock.

Yes, most definitely. You must always replace struts and shocks in pairs. Replace one front shock or strut then you must replace both. Same for the rear.

How do you replace front shocks on a 97 Saab 900 s?

To replace the front shocks on a 1997 Saab 900 S, first, safely lift and support the vehicle. Remove the front wheel, then detach the brake caliper and support it to avoid stressing the brake line. Next, unbolt the top shock mount under the hood and the lower shock bolt on the control arm. Replace the old shock with the new one, reattach all components in reverse order, and ensure everything is properly torqued before lowering the vehicle.
