not sure but it happened to me, car was stuck in third so i had it towed home. the tow truck (flatbed) backed it into my garage and since it was in gear it didn't roll back. i got in the car to operate the break while the tow truck driver jerked the flatbed while the car was on an incline. out of nowhere it started rolling backwards. i slammed on the breaks to maneuver it into the garage and when i checked again the shifter moved freely.
mine does the same thing usually you can snatch on it and get it out some times it binds up and i put it in third and pop the clutch and it un jams it

well fisrt you un hook the two lines that go to the box and then un bolt the gear box from the frame,and un do the steering u joint from the box and remove the hole steering box,

did u check if it was rusty or anything is stuck on the inside

go and get it professionally removed, because if unprofessionally done you could damage the bell of the trumpet
