Just yesterday I replaced the door check on my 07 Eclipse GT: Buy the replacement part (~$35 at the dealer) Tools needed: 10mm socket (w/ 6" extension - a plus), 10mm open-end or box wrench, phillips screwdriver Detach door check end from body frame Remove door panel from door frame, disconnect wire connector from switches Remove speaker from door frame Put arm in speaker hole and hold onto door check, do not allow loose parts (if any) to fall into bottom of door, near-impossible to retrieve. Unbolt door check from door frame, remove from door. Install in reverse order. Recommend not to do final tightening of all door check bolts until both ends have been bolted into position, then tighten the four bolts but do not over-tighten as the threads easily strip.
