a slant 6 does in fact have a timing chain but it rarely ever wear out, break, or stretch, because of the durability of a slant 6.
hot wire on the timing light goes to pos. side of the battery and the neg. side of timing light goes to ground on the engine someplace and then the plug clip goes on the #1 spark plug wire.

Which engine? Engine selections started with Chrysler's trusty 225-cid Slant Six, but also included five V-8s, topped by the rollicking 425-horsepower 426-cid "Street Hemi."
From my '72 manual, it's TDC =/- 2.5°
Engine numbers on a slant 6 are stamped on the top of the block that protrudes from under the head below #1 spark plug.
the 225 was a slant 6 not a v8
I believe that is 2+1/2 degrees BTDC
Need to be more specific
find the distributor and at the bottom of it there is a bolt that you loosen that loosens the hold down plate that keeps it tight against the engine block, once you loosen the bolt the distributor will turn right or left, start the engine and then slowly turn the distributor one way or the other until you hear the engine RPM increase, when it increases you are advancing the timing.
right above the dampener.
