It could be many different things depending on your front suspension,steering box or rack,worn or damaged linkage,broken springs/bearing plates,lose or lack of Power Steering fluid/pump,axles/half shafts,idler/pitman arm,etc. Just some of the most common things that I've seen as a tech. I'm sure I missed a lot of different causes but fluid,rack,loss of power steering(line,rack,pump,check your fluid,unless its electric steering...)look for bubbles or fluid rising from bottle,whine when turning wheel,(listen for noises clunk,rattle,rubbing,etc)put the vehicle on jack stands always while working and good luck hope this helped...
