most likely its the alternator that isn't recharging. you can have that alternator pulled off and checked at any local parts store like automotive advantage.
that's the most common problem. if that doesn't work check your terminals on the battery and make sure they're clean and check battery grounds
Disconnect the negative cable.
If the battery were not securely fastened down Any speed could possibly crack the battery. If the battery is securely fastened down it would depend on where the vehicle was hit in the accident.
A run down or nearing end of life battery. Dirty and/or loose battery connections.
You'd lose function of any component driven by the serpentine belt - if the alternator was among those, you'd see your battery light come on, and the vehicle would shut down once you lost sufficient battery power.
Depends on if it drained while you were driving or ran down while it was parked overnight. If the battery runs down while you're driving the vehicle then more than likely the alternator is defective. If the battery drains while the vehicle is parked then the problem is either a dead cell in the battery or a light is on somewhere on the vehicle. Could be a under hood light, trunk, glovebox, dome, or even the brake lights. It can also be a relay that is stuck.
Recharging/Topping Off of an Auto Battery after Jump StartingIt is not absolutely necessary to drive the vehicle for the battery to recharge, BUT...If you allow the vehicle to stand idling for a long period of time without moving, you run the possible risk of the engine and cooling system overheating, which could damage the engine. Therefore it is suggested that the vehicle be driven for a few miles to recharge the battery, OR stay with the vehicle while it is stopped/idling, and monitor/watch the engine/coolant temperature gauge and/or idiot light.IF the gauge approaches full hot, or the hot coolant warning light comes on, then either take the vehicle out for a drive to cool it down, OR turn the engine OFF.
If you are 100% sure nothing is on pulling power from the battery and it will not hold a charge then the battery has a dead cell and must be replaced.
For starters change the fuel filter
Your gear linkage is offset!! Or you are on a steep down hill
The battery on a 2007 Buick Lucerne is located in the engine compartment. You can find it on the driver's side, near the front of the vehicle. To access the battery, you'll need to open the hood and look for the black battery case, which is secured by a bracket or hold-down. Always ensure the vehicle is turned off before attempting to inspect or replace the battery.
If you install a new battery & new alternator and the battery runs down overnight then you have something pulling power from the battery. Look for any light on the vehicle that is on or a relay that is stuck.
As long as the battery is functional you can continue to jump it. However, know that every time you run a car battery down you shorten its life. A battery that is designed to be run completely down and then recharged is called a deep cycle battery. Automobile batteries are not deep cycle batteries. Discharging them completely causes damage to the battery itself.
