A brake sensor monitors the status of the vehicle's braking system, detecting when the brakes are applied. It typically sends signals to the vehicle's onboard computer to activate warning lights, such as the brake warning light on the dashboard, or to engage safety features like anti-lock braking systems (ABS). Additionally, brake sensors can help in assessing brake wear and performance, contributing to overall vehicle safety.

Carefully pry pad wear sensor from brake pad. Then insert brake pad wear sensor into cutout in new pad where applicable.
Low brake fluid in master cylinder, fault in brake fluid level sensor, parking brake is on, parking brake sensor fault.
To replace a brake sensor, first, ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is off. Locate the brake sensor, typically found near the brake caliper or on the brake line. Disconnect the sensor's wiring harness and remove any mounting screws or clips. Install the new sensor by reversing the removal process, ensuring a secure connection before testing the brakes.
Brake fluid is below the master cylinder sensor or the sensor itself is bad.
