I have been told by Hyundai services that it would cost me $950 to replace the clutch of my 2000 Hyundai accent. I think this is a reasonable price.
soory the shift solenoid
Whatever the car, it has to do with the clutch. If the clutch does not dis-engage the fly wheel, you will be unable to shift or even get it into gear. Check you clutch, pedal, cable, or hydraulic system.
You can find a shift solenoid diagram and pulse generator for your 1999 Hyundai and most Hyundai dealerships. Many auto-parts stores will also have the diagram.
Try replacing the transmission sensor/cable it is $35.The signal that tells the computer to turn OD back on is probably not making it to the transmission.
sounds like clutch needs adjustment or time to replace it
Push in the overdrive button(located on the gear shift knob - below the shifter button).

No. Clutch is what disengages the motor from the transmission. Shift would be changing gears. You should depress the clutch to shift from one gear to another.
the clutch is burnt up. buy a clutch kit check your slave cylinder for leaks, its bolted on the side of transmission,if its leaking ,replace,if not ,then it could be u need a new clutch.
The clutch will not engage ,you will not be able to shift./// the clutch will not (disengage ) making it almost impossible to shift gears
Check to see if the stop lights are working. Shift interlock is the same circuit. If they do not work check fuses and stop light switch. Try turning the key to 1st position (unlock) shift to neutral to start vehicle and then shift to Drive
