The warning lamp above the fuel gauge on a Peugeot 406 typically indicates low fuel levels. When this light illuminates, it serves as a reminder to refuel your vehicle soon to avoid running out of gas. If the light stays on or flashes, it may also indicate a malfunction in the fuel system or gauge. Always consult the owner's manual for specific details related to your vehicle's warning indicators.
what is this red light above my fuel gauge on my 2004 land rover discovery
check ground on fuel tank
My guess would be Low Fuel Warning Light. But saying that, RED usually means STOP. So it may very well be something else. I suggest you contact a Peugeot dealer to find out for sure.

Try hitting the dashboard directly above the fuel gauge. A nice thump might release a gauge one a Volvo.
There typically isn't a separate fuse for the fuel gauge - it's a shared circuit, and you'd lose a lot more than your fuel gauge if that circuit lost continuity. If your fuel gauge isn't working, you're more likely looking at a bad fuel sending unit, not a fuse.
To fix the fuel gauge on a Peugeot 307 HDi, start by checking the fuel level sender unit, which is located in the fuel tank. Ensure that the wiring and connections are secure and free of corrosion. If the sender unit is faulty, it may need to be replaced. Additionally, inspect the instrument cluster for any issues, as a malfunction there can also affect the gauge reading. If necessary, consult a professional mechanic for a thorough diagnosis.
