Regarding the A833 Manual Overdrive Transmission.....using Automatic Transmission Fluid as per Dodge's specs ( in a 1978 truck)....ate up the syncro rings in the transmission after about 50,000 miles and eventually seized. I believe this was a short-sighted attempt at increasing fuel efficiency ( lowering gearbox friction ). I have used SAE80 gear oil ever since in these gearboxes ( 1978 and 1889 trucks) with no further problems. Auto Transmission Fluid has no business in these gearboxes. That's a quote from the guy that had to rebuild my '78 gearbox.

The 1974 Plymouth Road Runner offered a 3-speed manual transmission identified by the model number A833. For the 4-speed manual transmission, the model number is also A833, but it is specifically referred to as the A833 4-speed. Both transmissions were part of the performance options available for that model year.
The 1984 Dodge truck typically came with a few manual transmission options, with the most common being the A833 four-speed manual transmission. This transmission was used in various Dodge and Chrysler vehicles during that era. It's important to check the specific model and engine type of your truck, as there could be variations in transmission options based on those factors. If you're considering a replacement or upgrade, ensure compatibility with your truck's drivetrain.
The best manual transmission for a 1987 Dodge D100 2WD is often considered to be the NV3500 or the A833 four-speed. The NV3500 offers a more modern design with better gear ratios and overdrive, improving drivability and fuel efficiency. The A833 is a popular choice for its durability and straightforward installation, especially for those looking to maintain a classic feel. Ultimately, the choice depends on your performance goals and preferences.

A 1982 360 engine, commonly found in Chrysler and Dodge vehicles, is compatible with several transmissions. The most common options include the A727 three-speed automatic transmission and the A904, another automatic option. Additionally, manual transmissions like the Tremec T5 or the Chrysler A833 four-speed can also be used, depending on the specific application and modifications. When selecting a transmission, ensure compatibility with the engine's bellhousing and driveline setup.

The transmission commonly paired with the Slant Six 225 engine, which was produced by Chrysler, is the TorqueFlite automatic transmission. This engine was also compatible with manual transmissions, such as the A833 four-speed. The specific transmission choice often depended on the vehicle model and year, as well as the preferences of the original owner. The Slant Six was popular for its durability and smooth operation, making it a favored engine option in various Chrysler models.
