To change the automatic transmission oil on a 2003 Honda Civic LX, first, ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and warm up the engine. Remove the transmission drain plug to let the old fluid drain into a pan, then replace the plug and refill the transmission through the dipstick tube with the appropriate type of ATF (usually Honda ATF-Z1 or equivalent). Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, checking for leaks and verifying the fluid level with the dipstick, adding more fluid if necessary. Always dispose of the old fluid properly.
