Type FA.

Unfortunately, Type FA is very difficult to find, and I think Valvoline is the only maker now. Most folks nowadays use Type F for their old T-Birds. Some use Mercon. Either way, if you're unsure which type of fluid may be in your '64, I would suggest draining the Transmission Fluid and using Type F. Drain the the converter as well. If your transmission has recently been rebuilt, you can use Mercon.

Note: The Power Steering for this vehicle is designed for Type A Transmission fluid as well. Using regular power steering fluid or a synthetic fluid will usually cause leaks as these fluids are too thin.
