The question is why do you think it should? Is there an overheating problem with your Outback?

For what it cost to replace the radiator and/or repair the engine, I would stick with the stealership original Anti-Freeze coolant. Better be safe than sorry...
Low coolant if it is ? smoking you may have cooked your motor, or the thermatic fans are shorting out get it seen to by a mechanic ASAP

It's on the bottom right side of the radiator.
The recommended automatic transmission fluid for a 2000 Subaru Outback Legacy is Subaru ATF HP. This is a proprietary fluid which is sold by local dealerships.
dexron III is recommended for a 2003 Outback automatic
Under the engine where the lower radiator hose connects.
The recommended oil for a 2000 Subaru Outback is 5 W 30. This oil can be purchased at any auto parts store.
You may need to replace the radiator thermostat and gasket.
