It uses a 12 volt lawn mower engine battery.
The John Deere 37A Snow Blower is designed to fit specific John Deere lawn tractors, but it is not compatible with the LX178 model. The LX178 typically requires attachments that are specifically designed for its series. For optimal performance and compatibility, it's best to check the owner's manual or consult a John Deere dealer for compatible snow blower options for your tractor.

If you mean the same model of tractor in all of the different states, they should all remain about the same price range. John sets a suggested price for salespersons to sell at, providing a slight commission over the production price. For the cheapest tractors though, try a state without sales tax. Otherwise, the price can be bargained down slightly by knowing the dealer and call pull a few strings. Different states, almost same price.
The John Deere LX178 typically holds about 3.5 quarts of engine coolant (antifreeze) when including the radiator and the engine block. It's important to check the owner's manual for specific details, as coolant capacity can vary slightly based on engine type and configuration. Always use the recommended type of antifreeze for optimal performance and protection.
The belts could be too loose or too tight, pulleys are wore out, belt is not routed correctly, spindles are binding, belt is grabbing a guide tab or linkages and causing it to break, ldler has a bad bearing or is not engaged properly.
There is a nice Yellow Knob on the right hand side of steering wheel when you pull it out your PTO(Power Take Off) part that makes blades engage when hooked up right. To shut blades off just push know back in. Hopefully that helps and good luck with the mower. I have had mine 10 years it has never once had an issue.
The LX178 has a stator to recharge the battery. When this goes bad, the voltage regulator indicates no charge being produced. The mower dies do to lack of enough charge to produce a spark. When you recharge, there is enough current to again produce a spark - will run until the battery goes dead again.
The only adjustment on my LX178 is a spring hook that is located on the sheet metal under the right rear fender. If you need to tighten the belt a little, you can pull the spring back to the rear position. If it's already in the back position and the belt is still too loose, you'll need a new belt. I'd get a JD belt. The belts U get at the Auto Parts Store don't last long. TW There is no spring...The answer above the owner obviously does not own a 178. The only correct way to tighten the idler pulley is to remove the belt guard from around the idler pulley then loosen the idler pulley bolt. Slide the pulley forward ( there will only be about a 3/4" slot to slide). To do this you first remove the deck and make sure the brake is on and locked in the park position to relieve tension off of the belt. You could also shorten the rod that connects to the top of the hydrostat drive to the brake linkage but this is not advisable because you can cause the tractor to drift when in a neutral state. If your pulley is all the way forward then it is advisable to buy a new belt.
