warped valve cover. bad gasket. cracked valve cover cracked block
lower intake gasket
I'm going to replace the valve cover gaskets on my 5.4. The top bolts their very loose, but hesitant to come out. any thing would help me
pull the spark plug wires out from the valve cover and unscrew the four nuts it will come right off.
Without seeing it, I would think it is the valve cover gasket leaking and dripping on the hot exhaust manifold which causes it to smoke. Get it repaired. Well the oil needs changed badly and how much would you think that would be if it was the vavle cover gasket to be repaired? it could also be your pcv valve not openeing up and the smoke will come out of ur dipstick i have the same prob with my third gen t/a im pretty sure i found ware its comin from it looks like its ware the actual dipstick tube is mines cracked at the base cause be yours is 2 ive heard its somewhat common
if u have acarb. ,it should hook up to it,check your PVC valve and the line connected to it ,it may be clogged.
it is poosible there was a ground wire not connected after installing the valve cover
To replace the valve cover gaskets on a 2003 Jeep Liberty, the valve cover is removed. The old gasket is then removed from both the valve cover and the manifold (old gasket will come off in pieces on both sides). Then spread the sealant on the manifold, place the new gasket on, then put sealant on top of the gasket and replace the valve cover and bolt down.
No they would come under "G" for garbage
Bend over a little farther... doesn't that feel good to see the oil leaking leaking out of the valve cover? Probably not, but those are common for leaks, I think it may be a valve cover gasket. Get a neoprene one, not cork if you plan to change it your self. Could be leaking from anywhere back there I have seen them leak from the distributor. Check and see if you can spot the leak you may have to power wash the engine first if it is very dirty and greasy. I agree, oil leaking from the valve cover gasket will seep down the engine and burn away when the engine is hot enough. That's why you will probably notice smoke coming from the engine (in your case the back). I suspect that when you come to a stop in city traffic you see the smoke leaving through the grill or from under the car, and a small wind might even help it move into your cabin if the windows are open. Valve covers aren't that expensive to replace on older cars, but on newer cars labor can be more. !
yes
White smoke from the exhaust is a symptom of coolant entering the combustion chamber. Most often caused by a cracked or warped head or blown head gasket. Stop driving this vehicle until you have this repaired or you will destroy the engine.
