It is in the fuel tank, you have to drop the tank to get to it.
Actually, it is not in but above the fuel tank. Unfortunately you still have to drop the tank completely to get to it. Very poor design by Chrysler. Then, again, they want you to bring your vehicle to them and pay them to fix it as opposed to being able to make this a simple fix like they used to be.
AnswerIF YOU CANNOT SEE IT JUST IN FRONT OF THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL UNDER THE REAR FLOOR PAN, THEN I WOULD SAY THAT IS IN THE FUEL TANK..CHECK WITH THE DEALER FOR THIS AS I THINK THAT MANY POPULAR CHRYSLER PRODUCTS ONLY HAVE ONE THERE.Actually, its not in the tank but above it. You will still have to drop the tank completely to get to it.
Answerit is actually on top of the fuel tank and not in the tank....I replaced mine on a 98It is the same on a 1997 Breeze.

I would imagine that it is placed above the fuel tank, as it is in the Plymouth line, as they are the same company and body styles. The Dodge came with more options but I'm quite certain that when it comes to placement of fuel filter, fuel pump, etc., there isn't any design change. If you can not locate it under the car behind the back driver's side long the frame, then it will be above the tank, which requires a complete tank drop to access the fuel filter.
