To find it, look for a long, thin tube with a handle, usually near the firewall. It may be necessary to move some components slightly for better access. Always ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is warm when checking the fluid level.
If it is a Manual transmission you do not have a dipsticks.

A 1989 Honda Civic did not make use of a transmission fluid dipstick. Instead there are two bolts available. A filler bolt and a drain bolt.
