Why does your 2006 Lincoln ls make squealing noise when you start the car but goes away when car warms up?
It's the belt beginning to wear out and/or the idler pully. The reason it squeaks to begin with is the rubber belt is cool and in a hardened state. The cracks are causing it slip quit a bit and slip off of the pulleys, that's where you get the squealing noise from. As a temporary solution you could look at spending about $5-$8 on some belt dressing, which is more or less a treatment for the rubber belt to extend it's life. The proper solution is to just pickup a new belt. Pull into any Autozone, O'Reilly's, Advanced Auto and let them hear it and they'll fix you right up. Depending on the brand you get you're probably looking at around $12-$30. Most of the employees at these stores will either do the job for you or walk you through it saving a mechanic trip. It's quite simple, only requiring 1 tool (ratchet/wrench, probably 15mm) but if you have these employees do it for you tip them. They did save you an expensive bill.

Check your belts.It's probably condensation on your belts that has formed from either rainy weather, humidity or dew.The noise will cease as the belts dry out.If you pop your hood you'll notice a diagram on the underside of your belt system.The wheel in your belt system closest to the ground may be experiencing more rust then the other wheels from more exposure to ground moisture, possibly causing it to grind or may be bent.

I have 1998 a Lincoln town car with the same problem.. It idles rough when you start, then smooths out once it warms up and you give it gas. From what I am reading its either an oxygen sensor or you have vacume leak in one of your hoses by the manifold.

Type your answer here... If it goes away after 1 min or so, seems to last longer in the winter/cooler temps, the noise is the hydraulic/clutch fan. Situation normal, as soon as it warms up, it gets quiet to save fuel milage.
