By doing that you defeat the purpose of a fuse. The fuse is there to protect the wiring from an overload or short which could cause the wires to overheat and catch on fire. By replacing the fuse with a wire or fuse that is too large all the protection is gone and your car could catch on fire at any moment.

NO it is dangerous.

Can you replace a 30 amp fuse with a 15 amp fuse?

Not a good idea. The 15 amp fuse will be protection a #14 wire which is rated for 15 amps maximum capacity. By changing the 15 amp fuse to a 30 amp fuse you would then be allowing 30 amps maximum capacity on a #14 wire. By doubling the load the extra heat generated on the smaller wire could be enough to melt the insulation from the wire and that could cause the wire to short out. If the wire shorts out inside the wall it means the removal of the wall board to replace the wire to restore the circuit to an operational condition. The proper wire sizing for a 30 amp fuse is, #10 copper wire with an insulation rating of 90 degrees C.

How do you change a in line fuse stereo 4 gauge wire?

To change an in-line fuse in a stereo 4-gauge wire, first disconnect the wire from the power source. Locate the existing fuse holder, open it to access the fuse, replace the fuse with a new one of the same rating, and close the holder securely. Reconnect the wire to the power source and ensure the connection is secure.

Is it a safety hazard to replace a 3 amp fuse with a 5 amp fuse?

Yes. You put a bigger fuse and you will melt the wire and cause a fire hazard.

How do you replace a fuse on the Toyota Corolla?

Depend on which one you want to replace, and why need to replace? It blew out...? Usually it last almost for ever or the life of the car. But if any one blew out, it must be a broken wire that use that fuse. Any way just pull out the one need to be replace and plug in the new one at the same rate to place. If it blow out again; it has a broken wire that touch ground. So it's good idea to check its wire before replace new fuse.

How do you replace the wire on an old fashioned fuse?

You do not replace the wire - you replace the fuse as a whole unit. Never try to "get by" with anything but the correct fuse - it is asking for a fire if you don't. If you have the old style which have screw on caps, you remove the caps and replace the fuse with the exact fuse material that is identical to the one that burned. Reinstall the caps tight and re-insert the fuse. These types of fuses are becoming obsolete and can be hard to find the fuse material for them. You can replace the fuse with a newer fuse rated for the same amperage as the old one. Note, however, that this type of fuse is higher amperage - 30 amps or above. The type of fuse described at the beginning of this answer - the old "screw in" type - is not fixable - it must be replaced outright

Can I replace a 16 amp fuse with a 15 amp fuse?

No, as soon as you turn on the appliance the wire inside the fuse will melt as there will be too muck current flowing through it

If your fuse box supports 20 amp fuses can you replace one current 15 amp fuse with a 20 amp fuse?

The purpose of a fuse it to protect the wire that goes to the load. A 15 amp fuse protects a #14 gauge wire. A 20 amp fuse protects a #12 gauge wire. To answer your question if the wire size is #12 coming from the 15 amp fuse now then it can be upped to 20 amp fuse. If it isn't then you are taking the risk of overloading the #14 wire with a 20 amp fuse. This can lead to insulation failure of the #14 wire, overheating with the possible outcome of a fire breaking out somewhere in the circuit.

An electrician wants to replace wire in place of fuse. would you agree?

If you mean to replace fuses with circuit breakers, Then yes it is wise to upgrade your main electrical service. if you mean he wants to take a wire and bridge the gap in which a fuse would normally go then no I would not agree. it has a fuse to start with for a reason. bypassing a fuse is a good way to fry your... car / house / whatever you are bypassing
