During idling the pressure in the inlet manifold is 20-25% of the atmospheric pressure. At suction stroke, the inlet valve opens and the product of combustion in the clearance volume expands in the inlet manifold,as the piston moves down to BDC,the gases along with fresh charge go into the cylinder. So to counteract the tendency of dilution and to get a ignitable mixture ,rich mixture is neccessary.

Can side cam engine be installed in 4 stroke or 2 stroke engine?

sidecam engine cannot be installed in 2 stroke engine because in 2 stroke engine we have inlet & exhaust ports not valves... so when piston moves up and down it automatically opens the inlet and exhaust ports so it does not require any camshaft for opening of valves as it is required in 4 stroke engine

What occurs during up stroke of a 2 stroke cycle engine?

The upstroke of a two-stroke engine has only one function: compression. The downstroke is where power, then exhaust, then intake occur. This is the greatest animation I've seen for explaining a two-stroke engine: http:/www.animatedengines.com/twostroke.shtml

What are the four strokes to a four stroke engine?

The four strokes of a four-stroke engine are the intake, compression, power, and exhaust strokes. During the intake stroke, the engine draws in air and fuel. The compression stroke then compresses this mixture, followed by the power stroke, where the spark plug ignites the mixture, generating power. Finally, in the exhaust stroke, the engine expels the burnt gases from the combustion process.
