A couple more suspects...
It is on the steering column, but those rarely go bad. In fact, I have never had to replace one. Almost always it is because you have no brake lights. Possibly a bad brake light switch.
Check your taillight's A lot of newer cars wont let you shift from park if a taillight or brake light is burned out.Do you mean it won't shift out of Park?If so, see "Related Questions" below for more, especially about the brake light switch and more
APPLY BRAKES AND SEE IF BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON. IF NO BRAKE LIGHTS, REPLACE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH LOCATED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL ARM AND THIS SHOULD ALLOW YOU TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK. IF THAT BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH IS BROKE, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO GET IT OUT OF PARK
You might have a bad brake light switch. If you don't have brake lights the switch is bad. When your brake light switch isn't working it wont send a signal to the shift solenoid.

Find the switch attached to the brake pedal for the shift interlock and jump the two wires together. Be careful not to disconnect the brake light switch

THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH IS NOT PUTTING OUT BATTERY WHENEVER THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED DOWN. CHECK TO SEE IF BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED DOWN. IF BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON, THEN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SHIFT IT OUT OF PARK. IF NO BRAKE LIGHTS, THEN IT WON'T SHIFT OUT OF PARK. IF THIS IS THE CASE, THEN REPLACE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH.
Check for a blown brake light fuse. Check for a broken or out of adjustment brake light switch.
It could be a bad brake light switch. You have to step on the brake to shift it out of park.
