Mercury Tracer parking lights may stay on due to a malfunctioning light switch or a faulty relay that fails to disconnect the circuit. Additionally, a wiring issue, such as a short circuit or damaged wiring harness, can cause the lights to remain illuminated. It's also possible that a sensor or control module is malfunctioning. Checking the light switch and inspecting the wiring for damage are good initial steps to diagnose the problem.

On a 1997 Mercury Tracer : The AUTOMATIC transmission fluid dipstick would be on the side of the transmission ( transaxle ) in the area of the brake fluid reservoir . The manual transmission ( transaxle ) does not have a dipstick

Blown fuse? Damaged buss board?
Yes , on the 1997 Mercury Tracer , the fuel pump shut off switch / inertia switch is in the trunk , on the passenger side , up near the rear seat , under the trim ( there would be an access hole or door )
I just replaced the timig belt on my 97 mercury tracer 2.0, the timing marks are lined up, but i still have no compression at all. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Im asking the question, apparently I'm in the wrong area.
