It sounds like wheel bearings. They make a noise while they're in one position but when you hit the brake, it moves them a little, and the noise stops.
check for bad bearings in alternator OR TALK BELT OFF THEN RECRANK. IF STILL MAKING NOISE SPRAY WD 40 ROUND YOUR THROTLEBODY. CAREFUL IT IS FLAMEBLE. SEE IF NOISE STOPS OR QUITENS. I RE-BUILT MY ALTERNATOR YESTERDAY SILL MADE NOISE, CHANGED BELT AND BELT TENSONER LAST NIGHT THEN IT MADE NOISE AGIAN. WHILE IT WAS MAKING NOISE TODAY ME AND MY SON TOOK BELT OFF STLL MAKING NOISE "NOT BELT OR ANY PULLIES" SPRAYED THROLTE BODY WD 4O FOUND IT IS SUCKING AIR WHERE CABLE WORKS THROTLE MAKING THE HIGH PITCH LOAD NOISE. THE NOISE GOES AWAY WHEN SPRAY. WASTED 135 YESTERDAY ON PARTS
You shouldn't be able to, if you are getting too much noise it may be time for new lifters, but a 4.0 will go quite a while after it starts making lifter noise.
* If it is stiff and making a crunching noise when going into gear it means the syncromesh (which is the cogs between gear cogs are worn), If it is making a whining noise in first gear it's a flywheel in the clutch, if it makes a whistling noise while travelling the clutch needs replacing, failing all that the gearbox needs grease or your elbow does.
