Assuming the new battery is good! The usual problem why a battery is not charging is the alternator. The battery will be discharged if the alternator is not working properly when you start the engine and when the engine is running, etc. The vehicle uses the batteries electricity instead of the alternators electrical output, and of course if the battery is not being replenished by the alternator the battery will fail in a short period of time. You should test the alternator to see if it is putting out between 12 and 15 volts. Another possible things that could be the problem with a New battery failing so quick is, maybe the proper amount of acid was not put into the battery, a short in the wiring, etc.
The alternator of a car is responsible for charging the car battery. Someone who repairs a broken alternator ensures that the alternator works again and continues to keep the car battery charged.
If you charge the battery up and it will run and start for a while and then dies again you know its not getting charged. If you charge the battery up or jump it off and it is dead again the first time you cut it back off its a bad battery.
i had this happen once on an 03 dodge minivan. the alternator went bad and the battery was going dead but had enough power to get the engine started. once i replaced the alternator and charged the battery the gauges worked again. good luck!
Car batteries get re-charged by the alternator. If your battery recently went dead, "miles" is not what is measured to recharge the battery, "time" is used. I'd leave the car running for 15-30 minutes. Driving for this amount of time too is fine. If the battery goes dead again, probably a bad battery or bad alternator, or sometimes a bad alternator makes the battery go bad and they both need repaired. (typically a new alternator is $120 - $200)
Even a new battery cannot start and run the vehicle for long without the charge it needs from the alternator. The battery has a certain amount of reserve power meant to start the vehicle only, then the power supplied by the alternator keeps a constant flow of power going to the battery to keep it charged enough to run the electrical system of the car. The electrical system, especially in late model vehicles pulls a large amount of electricity, so without that constant flow to replace the high draw, the battery is drained of its reserve. If you have driven the vehicle with a malfunctioning alternator, then parked it, chances are there is just not enough power to turn the vehicle over and start it again, as it has been drained completly. If you charged the battery on a charger, it would,(if a bad alternator is your problem)start and run the vehicle again, but just until the battery is drained.
It is the alternator. I have a 95 Monte Carlo and this has happened to me twice in the 3 years I've had the car. Each time I had to have the alternator replaced. The first time I had a problem with the alternator I took it to a shop and had it fixed. Two years later the alternator went out again without warning. That time we took it to a different shop and bought a new alternator with a three year warranty so it'll be free if it goes out two years later again.
your alternator is not charging your battery..u need to get a new alternator
could be the alternator or starter sounds like the alternator if the battery is gone flat get the alternator tested at auto parts or garage jump charging the battery might get you out of trouble for a bit
Assuming that the vehicle that the jump leads were attached to is running OK I'd say that it's the battery that's dead.
It sounds like your alternator is no longer recharging your battery. You probably need a new alternator.
Don't believe a word AutoZone tells you. My battery died so I went there and they tested my battery and alternator and told me it was the battery. So I bought a new battery and 2 days later, dead again. Went back and they tested again and THIS time, it was the alternator. I went nuts on them and ended up getting both my battery AND alternator for free for their mistake that left me stranded at 12am.
Battery light usually means alternator not charging. Most common solutions would be be a bad alternator, bad connection, or loose alternator belt. If the battery and alt test ok than check the connections to the alt. You may also have a battery drain (something that is staying on and killing the battery)
