if it has spark plugs check the distributor cap and/or rotor button for corrosion
bfollow your fuel lin its between the distributor fire wall
Check to see if there is a internal advance mechanism in your distributor. On older GM models bushings would wear causing it to stick and causing a surge or bucking as the advance within the distributor would release. Your computer regulates the advance, however, have the distributor checked.
Fuel pump, Ignition timing, spark plug misfire, fuel filter, air filter, take it to a mechanic.
has the gas tank cap been recently replaced????
Check fuel pump fuse. If you have changed the fuel filter on a 2000, you might have forgotten to put the rubber grommet between new fuel filter and fuel pump (look at your old fuel filter). I was informed that the fuel filter shoulf be changed between 90 000km - 100 000km. The fuel filter is situated in the petrol tank and will only need to be changed every 80 000-100 000 km and not with every service...
Oil coming from the oil filter area usually means that the gasket for the oil filter is not seating right. If the filter was changed recently, the old gasket could have been left on, along with the new gasket, causing a bad seal.
