A Chevy 350 cubic inch engine will take 4 quarts of oil in the crankcase and ONE additional quart if you replace the filter. Never use a race oil that states not street legal. They contain a zinc additive which over time will destroy a cat converter.

Normal capacity for a Chevy 350 is 5 quarts. A deep sump oil pan would increase the capacity to 6 quarts or more. Other things can also increase capacity like a larger oil filter or an external oil cooler, given neither one of those would likely increase capacity by a full quart.
