In order to take off a gear knob in a Peugeot 206, you will need pliers. First, take off the gaiter housing. Turn it upside down. Cut/brake the zippy tie. Pull the old knob forcefully. The gear knob will come off.
theres a lock nut under the knob, loosen it on shifter and unthread...it hold it tight thats why its there
Take the knob with you to a hardware store, and find a metric bolt that will screw into the knob. This would be the easiest way.
look at your shift knob for mine(1997) just take to gear 2 and look u will see a litle metal clip .. take a screwdriver and get it out .. and than just get out your shift knob :P
Take a screwdriver on the front side of the knob, and there is a little clip that looks like a staple, just pry it out, and the knob should slide right off.
hold select for a second after take off and change gear
on the front side of the handle there is a small slot. there is a metal staple in there you need to remove. Then you can pull the handle/knob straight up & off.
Escort doesn't have a gear shift cable. It has a gear shift rod. To remove it: Remove the shift control rod nut and bolt Take off the shift knob. Remove the console. Remove the shift boot. Pry out the shifter spring. Lift the shift ever out of the housing. Take the nuts that hold the shift housing on the end of the extension bar. Take the extension bar from the transaxle, lower the shift housiing and take the shift control rod from the transmission.
it is too old and or it is damaged and the plastic "reverse" lock is broken and jammed best bet just take it off, it only takes 5 mins and it wont affect the shifting at all especially with experienced drivers.. or you can get a B&M short throw shifter they work great and also take very little time at all to install..
It could be a number of things.. Drasticly reverse gear could be just broken, or the reverse cable could have broken. I sugest you take it into a local ATV dealer to have a look
"You simply unscrew it.....but I hope you're planning on replacing it, because you'll prob. tear the hell out of it. I used channel locks." NO! you're an idiot... Take a small screwdriver and remove the cap with the shift pattern on it. Once this is off take a 15mm socket and remove the nut from the middle of the knob. Once the nut is out unscrew the knob.
it has alot of torque. the reverse gear is different than first.
