Mackinaw City is the last town on the Lower Peninsula before you take the bridge to Mackinac Island. To add to the confusion, they're pronounced the same. Drive 410 miles north from Chicago, you should be right in the middle of all of it.

This faster route is slightly longer, as it is 450 miles taking this route:

1. Take I-94 EAST, from Chicago, to I-69 NORTH to LANSING at EXIT 138 in Michigan.
2. Take I-69 NORTH to U.S. 127 NORTH to CLARE at EXIT 87A.
3. Take U.S. 127 NORTH to I-75 NORTH.
4. Continue on I-75 NORTH to Mackinaw City.
