In Texas if you mail it to the beaumont or corpus christi address for the regional txdot offices two weeks or so...if you mail it to Houston or Austin or another big city office it will take a very long time. If you can go in (you may have to take off of work) you can get it the same day. Just take a lunch and a chair and a good book...oh yeah charge your cell phone...
