Google Maps can help you figure this out. Use "Get Directions" and then start moving the end point around the island, setting fixed destinations along the way to force the route to stay on the coast. A very quick stab at this using the major roads nearest the coast (and excluding Northern Ireland and the smaller islands) gives 2,312 miles, and over 48 hours of driving time. Using the roads literally nearest the coast regardless of size would undoubtedly take much, much longer! (There were no major roads near the coast in the northwest of Scotland. If you can find a way around there, that alone would probably add a thousand miles.) Have a nice trip!
