When the shifting linkage is disconnected the car will appear to go into gear but not move. The car will not move when the transmission fluid is low.
absolutely!
the gear you have it in might be neutral.
maybe not in gear

The car will not move when you put it in gear.

stalled. please stay off the roads.
What causes a car to move is gasoline.
the wheels wont move if the car is in gear but try rocking the car backwards and forwards incase it is stuck in a gear nd should free it of. That's in the case of zero knowledge of operating vehicles! (Of course it won't start if gear is engaged!)
Move the car. If the fan belt moves, it's still in gear. Also would be fairly hard to move if in gear.
