remove the screw near the front of the overhead console. Using a trim removel tool, gently pry the unit away from the headliner on the left and right side of the overhead console.
REMOVALOpen hood, disconnect and isolate the negativebattery cable.Remove the overhead console retaining screw,located in the front of console near the windshield.Using your fingertips, grasp the sides of theoverhead console and pull straight down evenly todisengage the two snap clips at the rear of the unit.Lower the overhead console far enough toaccess the wire harness connectors.Disconnect the control module, courtesy lampsand if equipped, the power sunroof switch electricalconnectors.Remove the lamp and socket assembly from theoverhead console.Remove the lamp bulb by pulling it straightout of its socket.INSTALLATIONPosition the overhead console in the vehicleand connect the wire harness connectors.Connect the control module, courtesy lampsand if equipped, the power sunroof switch electricalconnector.Using your fingertips, grasp the sides of theoverhead console and push straight up evenly toengage the two snap clips at the rear of the unit.Install the overhead console retaining screw,located in the front of console near the windshield.Torque the screw to 1.2 N·m (10 in. lbs.).Connect the remote negative battery cable.
I googled "04 Dodge Ram Manual" and downloaded the service manual from one of the links, which is different than the owners manual. The service manual is 2000+ pages long....here's what is says about the overhead console removal procedure....REMOVAL OVERHEAD CONSOLE REMOVAL (1) Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. (2) Remove the overhead console retaining screws, located in the sunglass storage bin. (3) Using your fingertips, grasp the sides of the overhead console and pull straight down evenly to disengage the two snap clips at the front of the unit. (4) Lower the overhead console far enough to access the wire harness connectors. (5) Disconnect the EVIC, CMTC electronic module and the reading/courtesy lamps electrical connectors. (6) Remove the overhead console from the vehicle. INSTALLATION (1) Position the overhead console in the vehicle. (2) Connect the EVIC, CMTC electronic module and the reading/courtesy lamps electrical connectors. (3) Grasp the sides of the overhead console and push straight up evenly to engage the two snap clips at the rear of the unit.
