On a 2005 Ford F-150, the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) is located behind the dashboard, specifically on the driver's side. To access it, you'll typically need to remove the lower dash trim and potentially the knee bolster. The GEM is mounted to the metal support bracket of the dash. It's responsible for various functions, including lighting and accessory control.
It is in the GEM control module under the dash. Brain of truck..

I'm not a mechanic / technician but I believe that the 4x4 Control Trac system on a 1995 Ford Explorer does not have a separate control module I believe the 4x4 system is controlled by the GEM ( Generic Electronic Module ) and that it is located in the center stack of the dash near the radio
The gem module on an 03 Ford Explorer is under the dash. It is just to the left of the radio.
